The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for various Southern California areas. The watch is in effect from Tuesday morning, July 14, 2026, through Thursday evening, July 16, 2026.
An Extreme Heat Watch was issued by NWS San Diego on July 13 at 3:16 AM PDT, and remains active until July 16 at 8:00 PM PDT.
Areas under the watch include Orange County Coastal Areas, Orange County Inland Areas, Riverside County Mountains, San Bernardino County Mountains, San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire, San Diego County Coastal Areas, San Diego County Mountains, San Diego County Valleys, San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, and Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills.
Forecasts indicate hot and humid conditions, alongside elevated overnight temperatures. Expected temperatures range in the 90s for mountains below 6000 feet, 95 to 107 degrees Fahrenheit or more for inland valleys, and 80s near the coast.
Heat-related illnesses are expected to increase significantly during this extreme heat event.
