The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for a portion of southwest California, effective from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures potentially reaching 112 degrees Fahrenheit in inland areas.
The Extreme Heat Watch, issued by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA on July 10 at 7:58 PM PDT, is set to begin on Tuesday, July 14 at 10:00 AM PDT and will remain in effect until Thursday, July 16 at 8:00 PM PDT. This watch covers a portion of southwest California.
Forecasts indicate dangerously hot conditions are possible. Temperatures are expected to range from 95 to 112 degrees Fahrenheit away from the coast. Near coastal areas, temperatures of 85 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit are possible.
Areas under the watch include San Luis Obispo County Inland Central Coast, Santa Lucia Mountains, Santa Barbara County Inland Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast, Santa Barbara County Southeastern Coast, Santa Ynez Mountains Western Range, Santa Ynez Mountains Eastern Range, and Ventura County B.
Officials warn of a high risk for dangerous heat illness. This risk is particularly elevated for the very young, the very old, individuals without air conditioning, and those active outdoors.
